*MS Mandi lifts Kho-Kho title

JAMMU, May 12: Presentation Convent School, Gandhi Nagar lifted twin Handball title, winning Under-14 and Under-17 girls events in the ongoing District level Inter-School Tournaments in the disciplines of Basketball and Handball under the age group of 14 and 17 years for the year 2018-19 of District Jammu, which concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium and Dogra Ground, Shastri Nagar, here.
In Handball Girls Under-14 final, Presentation Convent School Gandhi Nagar beat Heritage Public School Jammu by 4 goals, while in Handball Girls Under-17
Final, Presentation Convent School, Gandhi Nagar beat St Peters School BC Road by 3 goals. Sadvi remained the top scorer.
In Under-14 Girls Basketball, Heritage Public School defeated Jodhamal Public School by 11-5 points, while in Under-17 Girls Basketball, Jodhamal Public School beat Carmel Convent by 26-18 points to win the title.
In all, 408 girls drawn from 14 Zones of Jammu District took part in the competitions.
The competitions were organised by Department of Youth Services & Sports, under the patronage of Shiekh Fayaz Ahmad, Director General, Youth Services & Sports and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director while Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu was the Organising Secretary.
The main objective of the competitions was to select the teams of Jammu District for Inter District Division Level competitions.
The matches were officiated by ZPEO Om Parkash,a Rita Devi, Gourav Sharma, Vikram Dogra, Aryan Gandotra, Sunny Dogra, Honey Mehra, Dheeraj, Rajesh Bandral, Amit Kalsi, Satika, Vaneet and Abhishek.
Meanwhile, Annual Inter School tournament of Mandi and Sathra Zones in boys and girls under-14 age groups concluded at HSS Mandi under the banner of DYSSO Poonch.
The Tournament was supervised by ZPEO Sathra Zone S. Surinder Singh and ZPEO Mandi Zone Virta Sharma.
Principal HSS Boys Mandi S. Rashpal was the chief guest on this occasion.
At Sathra Zone in Kabaddi, MS Kulani beat HS Fatehpur by 12 points and in Kho-Kho, MS Chakrara defeated MS Kulani by 6 points and in girls section, MS Chakrara beat Jandrola.
At Mandi Zone, MS Mandi defeated HS Sawjian by the 8 points and in girls section MS Mandi emerged winner in Kho-Kho.
The technical panel comprised of Sukhbir Singh, Rajinder Singh, Rajesh Sharma, Amrish Sharma, Vikas Sharma, Jatinder Paul Sharma, Puspavati, PD Singh and Shabir.
Udhampur Zone today clinched the Boys Under-17 District Level Inter-Zone Cricket tourney the final match of which was held here at Subash Stadium.
The tournament was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports and about 104 Boys drawn from eight Zones of District Udhampur took part in the tournament.
In first semifinal match Zone Tikri defeated Zone Jib and entered in the final, while 2nd Semi final match was won by Zone Udhampur by defeating Ramnagar Zone.
The tournament was won by Zone Udhampur by defeating zone Tikri with 09 wickets in the final match. Saksham Thapa was declared man of the match for scoring 33 runs not out.
The matches were officiated by Parminder Manhas, Raj Kumar, Vinod Khajuria, Raman Gupta, Rakesh Kumar, Vinod kumar, Rakesh Khajuria and Ranjit Singh.
Among others present on the occasion were Ram Lal Badyal ZPEO Chanani, Pawan Kumar, ZPEO Panchari, Poonam Sharma, ZPEO Jib, Jasvinder Sigh, Sanjay Gupta, Des Raj, Karun Magotra, Romesh Chander, Subash Chander and Swarndeep Singh Tara.
Zonal level Inter-School Tournament in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Kabaddi was inaugurated by Principal GHSS Ramban, Parshotam Ji as the chief guest, while DYSSO Ramban, Sukhdev Raj was the guest of honour. The event was organized under the supervision of ZPEO Ramban, RN Koul. Around 270 boys and girls participated in the tournament in Under-14 and Under-17 categories.
