Press employees’ plea to Govt

SRINAGAR, Apr 12: The employees of Government Press, Srinagar have urged the State Government to shelve its plan of shifting Government Press from its present location to Sempora-Pampore in Pulwama district.
In a statement, a spokesman of Government Press Employees Association (GPEA) said that if the Government Press is shifted to Sempora then the state ex-chequer would suffer a loss of three crore rupees as the Government Departments would find it difficult to get the printing done outside the summer capital of the State.
The spokesman said that most of the Government Departments get their printing work done from Government Press, Srinagar. He said this would not be possible once the press is shifted to outside Srinagar.
