Prevent electricity shortage

Sir,
In a country like India, where more than 50 percent of population has to bear the brunt of electricity shortage, it is indeed miserable to notice electricity wastage ubiquitously.
While strolling down the streets of Jammu, I happened to notice electricity wastage in the most hi-tech and posh areas like malls, shops and the street lights which are running throughout the day even in the bright daylight.
On the contrary there are several rural areas in Jammu where people are still surviving in candles and traditional lamp systems. On one side there is excess unnecessary consumption of electricity. Whereas, on the other hand people die to see some amount of light inside their households. There is a strong need to inculcate a sense of awareness from the ground level in our country. It is the sole responsibility of every citizen to consume electricity within their requirements and prevent wastage.
Yours etc…
