Prevent Valley trouble from escalating: Dr Karan Singh

JAMMU, July 12: Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Dr Karan Singh today stressed that all efforts should be made to prevent prevailing situation in Kashmir valley from escalating.
In a statement issued here, Dr Karan Singh said, “the events in the Kashmir valley over the last few days resulting in heavy injuries and loss of many valuable young lives including security forces have been a matter of intense anguish and deep concern”.
He has appealed to all involved to prevent the trouble from escalating as it has already caused widespread destruction and disturbance of tourist traffic, which is the lifeline of Kashmir’s economy. “The ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra is also a significant event which has also unfortunately been disturbed”, Dr Karan Singh added.
“I have been emphasizing from time to time that discussions between all political parties and stake holders involved in Jammu and Kashmir from all the three regions including the separatists should be initiated without any undue delay”, the Member of Parliament said, adding “the multiple dimensions of Jammu and Kashmir need to be addressed urgently in an integrated and imaginative manner”.
