JAMMU, Mar 20: J&K Prisons Retired Employees Welfare Association (PREWA) today made a strong plea to the Government to release 10% DA installment from January 2014 in respect of State pensioners and employees.
This will relieve the employees and pensioners from undue hardships, which they are facing due to price hike, president of the Association, Krishan Singh, said while addressing a meeting of the Association here today.
PREWA president also urged the Government for issuing orders regarding payment of 4th installment of 6th CPC arrears, which are payable from April 2014. Moreover, the orders for the payment of 6% DA arrears from January to June 2009 too have not been issued so far, he regretted.
Since orders for the payment of CPC arrears in five annual installments were issued out, out of which three installments have been paid to the pensioners, there is no justification to keep DA arrears unpaid till this date, when the arrears stands adjusted in GP Fund Accounts of the employees long back, he added.
The meeting also demanded the Government to enhance monthly medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 and restore commuted pension after 12 years instead of 15 years.
