JAMMU, Aug 23: A deputation of J&K Prisons Retired Employees Welfare Association (PREWA) met VK Singh, DGP Prisons and submitted a memorandum of demands.
In the memorandum, the delegation led by PREWA president Krishan Singh laid emphasis on convening annual get-to-gether of the retired prisons personnel (RPPs) every year, updating welfare rules for the RPPs (both gazetted/non-gazetted) on police pattern as existing rules have become obsolete, providing indoor/outdoor medicare facilities to the RPPs and their families as in old age they suffer multiple types of time consuming and serious health problems and constitution of welfare board for the RPPs as envisaged in the Jail manuals.
The deputation stressed upon confirmation of the promotions as in-charge superintendents Jail of Deputy Superintendent Jails in their own pay and grade some of whom have retired as Deputy Superintendents and to find amicable solution of an old grievance of son of Kaka Ram, Ex Deputy Superintendent Jail, expeditiously.
The DGP listened to the deputation in a positive manner and said that some issues are under active consideration. He, however, assured to look into the issues raised by the deputation in a prompt and positive manner.
Krishan Singh, Madan Singh Charak, Kaka Ram, Hem Raj, Harbans Singh, Mohinder Singh, Amarjit Singh and Parkash Singh were also part of the deputation.
The president of the Association also expressed concern that none from the Prison officers/officials has been conferred any of President’s Medals on Independence Day as they were not projected in befitting manner by the Department.
The PREWA also sought raise in hardship/Ration Money allowance for the Prison personnel as the same has recently been raised in respect of police personnel by the State Administrative Council.
