JAMMU, Sept 11: Prisons Retired Employees Welfare Association (PREWA) held a meeting and expressed concern over the rising prices of essential commodities, which has shattered family fabrics of masses and working classes.
While speaking, Krishan Singh, president of the association, said that Government instead of paying 6th CPC arrears in two installments on Central pattern ordered the payment of the same in five annual installments, which is un-justified.
He demanded enhancement in pension by 20, 30, 40, 50 and 100 per cent after 80, 85, 90, 95 and 100 years of age, release of arrears of 6 per cent DA installment, enhancement of medical allowances to Rs 1000 per month, etc.
Gurdip Singh in his speech urged the higher authorities of the department to redraft welfare rules on police pattern and also convene 2nd Annual Prison meet soon.
