KATHUA, Aug 2: A priest of famous temple of Mata Dolla Wali in Bani tehsil of Kathua district was murdered during the intervening night by his associate inside the temple where both were sleeping during the night.
The Bani police has registered a case under FIR NO 29/2019 under Section 302 RPC and arrested the associate of Mahant who allegedly murdered him. He has been identified as Madan Lal, son of Rasulu Ram of village Barri, Bani.
The deceased has been identified as Nagina Ram, 80 of Dolla village and his associate Madan Lal were sleeping inside the temple after attending a religious function in the temple during the day.
The accused said that he had come under the influence of evil spirit which forced him to murder the priest and when the influence of evil spirit was over he found that he has murdered the priest. He later informed the family members of the priest, villagers and police about the incident. He also surrendered before the police and narrated the entire murder mystery to them. The police handed over the dead body to the family members after postmortem for last rites. The police has also started investigation in the matter.
