Bengaluru, Mar 5: Principal, Government Medical College Rajouri Prof.(Dr) A.S.Bhatia was today elected as the new president of International Organisation, Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences (IABS) in its 11th International Annual Conference held at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience (NIMHANS) Bengaluru.
In the General Body Meeting attended by the members, Dr Bhatia took over the charge of the organization from Prof. Bipin M. Tiwale of D.Y Patil Medical College, Kolhapur (Maharashtra) in the presence of the Prof. Hari S. Sharma, the founder president from Rotterdom, the Netherland. The Conference was attended by its members from AIIMS New Delhi, PGI Chandigarh, AIIMS Bhopal, University of Montreal Canada, Griffth University, South port Australia, Punjab University, University of Mysore, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Aligarh, Imam Abdul Rehman Bin Faisal University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City UAE, Eramus MC, Rotterdom Netherland, Belgium and many other prestigious National and International Universities.
Present on the occasion was also Professor Venkatesh Thuppil CEO, Director of Foundation for Quality India (FQI), who has led the scientific mass movement to get lead free petrol in India.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Dr Abbas Ali Mahdi, Secretary General IABS and Vice-Chancellor Era University, Lucknow said this academy provides a forum for clinicians and scientists to come together, interact and discuss about the new opportunities, new challenges and future development in the field of Biomedical Sciences.
Dr Bhatia said he will utilize the experience of this International Organisation to develop Research and Development for newer Government Medical College of U.T of Jammu and Kashmir with the support of Administrative Department of Health and Medical Education.
