UDHAMPUR, Mar 2: Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary, Home Department, J&K today visited Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) and reviewed the functioning of the Academy in a meeting with the Director and other gazetted officers of the Academy.
During the meeting, various issues regarding training and infrastructure aspects were discussed. The Director Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur, Mohd Sulaiman Salaria apprised the Principal Secretary about various training programmes being conducted by the Police Academy.
He informed that in the year 2018 total 61 courses including specialized courses were conducted by the Police Academy in which 2022 officers/officials were trained in different fields and in the current year till date 9 specialized courses have been conducted out of 49 approved by the PHQ J&K.
In his address, the Director advised the officers that besides other trainings, the training modules on disaster management should also be included in the training curriculum and should be a regular phenomena. “The investigation modules be upgraded to meet the contemporary challenges and the police Academy should invite more people from different walks of life and Academics for interaction with the trainees to enrich their knowledge,” he added.
Later, the Principal Secretary also addressed the darbar of the trainees at RV Raju Auditorium. He emphasized the trainees to be empathetic and polite with the women folk while dealing with their complaints and always feel for their pain and work for the redressal of their grievances. He also stressed upon the women recruit constables to work for the women empowerment as this is need of hour.
The review meeting was attended by Mohan Lal, Assistant Director (Outdoors), Mohd Farid, Assistant Director (Administration), Kamal Sharma, Chief Prosecuting Officer (CLI) and other gazetted officers of the Administrative, Outdoor and Indoor Wings of SKPA Udhampur. Beside, Piyush Singla, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur and Rajiv Pandey SSP Udhampur were also present in the meeting.
