Printers Associations decry Government apathy

Jammu, Jan 17: Jammu Printer Association and Kashmir Printers Association today highlighted their various problems and appealed the State Government to pay heed to mitigate the same to save the future of printers.
Addressing a joint press conference here at Press Club, presidents of Jammu Printer Association and Kashmir Printers Association said that the printers of the State have been suffering because Government pays no attention to this sector of industry.
Highlighting the problems, they said that their business is at depleting stage and many printers are unable to purchase papers for printing owning huge loans from banks on machinery.
They added that State Government restored to discriminatory treatment with printers as no Government printing works is allotted to the units in State and Government was publishing the entire material through outsourcing on higher rate than offered by the printers in the State.
They demanded that all Government works including printing works of offices, banks documents and Jammu and Kashmir Board publishing work will be allotted to the local’s printers instead of outsiders
The Association also flays Government for complex Sale Tax methodology and unscheduled power cuts.
They said the labour problem can be solved if Govt. starts ITI courses for printing trainees.
They said the Govt. of India has launched a national Educational Vocational Programme by AITC  of India and it should be implemented in the State.
It is very unfortunate besides giving so many reminders at different corners to concerned authorities, Printing item has not been indentified till date, they added.
