SRINAGAR, Sept 21: In a bid to digitize the data related to inmates, e-Prison Management System has been started in all the jails of the State.
The development happened after meeting of representatives of NIC, JakeGA, Superint-endent Jails of the Valley and senior officers of the Prisons Directorate was held under the chairmanship of DGP Prisons S.K. Mishra.
During the meeting various issues in the operationalization of the software were discussed threadbare. DGP informed that the software will computerize and integrate all activities related to prison and prisoners management in the first phase and in the second phase sharing of information regarding the prisoners amongst various jails and other components of Criminal Justice System will be taken up.
DGP stressed on proper training of prison staff in handling the software. He also asked JaKeGA to cover newly commissioned Special Jail (Correctional Home) at Pulwama and ICS Mishriwalla Jammu.
Various suggestions were made by the Superintendents for customization of the software for J&K State.
