Prisoner absconding from UP arrested in Himachal Pradesh

LUCKNOW, Aug 10:
An absconding prisoner, who was carrying a reward of Rs 15,000 on his arrest from the Uttar Pradesh police, has been arrested from Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
Mohan Tyagi was accused of killing four persons in the woods of Firozpur village at Bulandshehr district 16 years ago, police today said.
He was nailed from near a cosmetic factory at Ponta in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh on the night of August 8.
He was awarded death penalty for the crime, but later his capital punishment was converted into life imprisonment after he appealed to the High Court.
The accused was being brought for a court hearing from Agra in 2004, when he had escaped from the running train.
UP police had announced a reward of Rs 15,000 on his arrest. (UNI)
