SRINAGAR, Apr 6: An under trial prisoner killed his jail mate by hitting him with a stone while the latter was asleep in Central Jail, Srinagar last night.
Police said that this morning an under trial prisoner at Central Jail, Srinagar, Mohammad Ismail Shah son of Abdul Rahim Shah resident of Churat, in South Kashmir district of Kulgam was struck on head by another prisoner, Ghulam Hassan Malik son of Fateh Mohammad Malik resident of Check Saidpora in South Kashmir district of Shopian with a stone when he was asleep.
Police said that Shah sustained serious injuries in his head and was immediately shifted to JLNM Hospital, Rainawari where from he was referred to SKIMS, Soura. At SKIMS he succumbed to his injuries.
Rainawari Police station has registered a case FIR No 16/2013 in this regard. “Investigation has been started in the matter”, police added.
