JAMMU, May 27: The J&K Private Schools Association, Jammu, has urged the School Education authorities to allow private schools to continue their Board classes till 10th of June despite announcement of summer break.
“The instant announcement of summer breaks with effect from May 29 has created a chaos as most of the private schools, whose affiliation was granted till ending March 2017, are deprived of RR form for class 9th by the Board authorities even as inspection fee was deposited one year earlier in J&K Board for the extension in affiliation,” said Prof J L Kotwal, Chairman of the Association, while addressing a press conference, here today.
He also highlighted some other demands and grievances of the private schools and alleged that the Government was targeting them on hypothetical presumptions. However, he lauded the new Minister for Education, Syed Altaf Bukhari for his positive approach towards the stakeholders.
Demanding exemption of  Private schools from commercial laws and municipals taxes, the Association appealed the Government to  fix upper limit of fee so that a school can fix the same  in consultation with the parents accordingly taking into consideration school’s situation, topography, building structure and  paying capacity of the public in that particular area. “While doing so, the Government should keep in consideration the amount it spends in the education of a child in primary, middle, high and  higher secondary departments or allow a private school to hike its tuition fee @ 10% annually,” said Ajay Gupta, general secretary of the Association.
He also demanded  exclusion of Private Schools from Labour laws,  provide all type of sports material to the Private schools which are contributing 50 percent games fund as being done in case of Government schools. He also demanded   abolition of Middle Standard examination Board (8th) for the qualitative education, direct recognition to the  schools fulfilling all conditions and  norms, closure of  schools functioning without providing healthy infrastructure and running dummy classes
Kamal Gupta, Rameshwar Mengi and Vivek Chouhan also spoke on the occasion.
