JAMMU, Sept 4: Congress leader and DDC Member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony, today slammed the Government for its move to privatize the parking claiming that the same would ruin the taxi business in the region. He extended his full support to the Taxi operators working from Jammu Railway Station.
Tony said that the Government has no right to take such arbitrary decisions without taking into confidence the stakeholders because taxi operators working from Jammu Railway Station cannot bear such a big setback on account of snatching away their base just to please some private contractor for a few extra bucks. He said that the Government cannot take this lopsided step rendering hundreds of taxi operators helpless.
He appealed to LG Manoj Sinha to intervene in the matter and save the future of the aforesaid taxi operators which are backbone of tourism sector in J&K, as they provide reliable services to devotees of Mata vaishno Devi and Baba Barfani during all seasons with impeccable professional ethics.
