Privilege Committee decides to proceed against DC Ganderbal, SP Budgam

JAMMU, Dec 19: A meeting of Committee on Privilege of Legislative  Council was held under the chairmanship of MLC,  Jugal Kishore Sharma here today.
The Committee examined different matters of Breach of Privileges which came up before the Committee for consideration.
Legislators, Ravinder Kumar Sharma, Devander Singh Rana, Ghulam Nabi Monga and Ali Mohammad Dar were also present in the meeting and gave their suggestions for improving the working of the Committee.
In the matter of Breach of Privilege moved by MLC, Mohammad Ashraf Mir against the Commissioner Municipal Corporation Srinagar, G N Qasba, the meeting took serous note of non-appearance of Mr Qasba on the previous meeting. However, Mr Qasba today appeared before the Privilege Committee and explained his position for not attending the previous meeting.
In another matter pertaining to Privilege motion moved by MLC, Syed Mohammad Rafiq Shah against Taj Mohi-u-Din, Minister for Medical Education, the Committee took serious notice of non-appearance of Sarmad Hafeez present DC, Ganderbal and Irshad Ahmed present SP, Budgam who were called by the Committee to provide some information in the matter of Privilege.
The Committee directed both the officers to be present in next meeting and explain their position.
In another case of Privilege of some officials of JAKFED, the Committee called for the appearance of former MD, JAKFED, Akram Malik in the next meeting to further examine the matter of Privilege.
Among others those attended the meeting, Additional Secretary, Legislative Council, Mohammad Maqbool Bhat besides officers and officials of Council Secretariat.
