Privilege Committee expresses concern over inept handling of JAKFED case by mgmt

SRINAGAR, Sept 9: The Privilege Committee of Legislative Council met here today under the chairmanship of Ravinder Kumar Sharma and discussed the privilege motion moved against Anti Hijack Squad Airport Srinagar.
Legislators Showkat Ahmad Ganaie, Ali Mohammad Dar and Ghulam Nabi Monga, ADG, Security,  V.K. Singh, SSP Security, Rafiq-ul-Hassan, SP Anti Hijack, Abdul Rashid Bhat were present on the occasion.
On assurance of ADG for streamlining and improving the system and taking full responsibility of the incident, the Committee decided to withdraw the motion moved against the officer.
The Committee asked concerned authority to bring more efficiency in the team work besides taking corrective measures for maintaining inter departmental coordination to ensure that such incidents do not recur in future.
The Chairman asked the Security Wing of J&K Police to be extra cautious in their duties.
In another meeting, the Committee discussed the privilege motion against the employees of JAKFED.
The Committee discussed in detail the privilege motion moved by Naresh Kumar Gupta against the employees of JAKFED for calling press conference in March 2013 and threatening the Member for raising the issue in the House.
Expressing its dismay over the negligence exhibited by the management of JAKFED in handling the case, the Committee asked the MD to furnish all documents of the case to the Committee so that further action in the matter is taken accordingly.
The Committee also heard the 12 employees responsible for this misconduct.
