JAMMU, Apr 20: Calling upon authorities to efficiently utilise space for showcasing and preserving art works, Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Tourism, Culture, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks Priya Sethi said that the Government is committed to promote art and culture in the State and all efforts would be made to ensure that paintings, artefacts and cultural heritage would be preserved at all costs.
She said that the Kala Kendra is premium art centre of the region and would be developed into one of the main destinations for artists and art lovers in the State.
She directed the authorities to make operational various studios in the Kala Kendra within one week and also passed directions to the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) to ensure paintings, sculptures and other artefacts should be preserved and kept at display for the audiences.
Priya passed these instructions while inspecting Kala Kendra, Jammu here today.
Secretary, JKAACL Aziz Hajini and Administrator, Kala Kendra, Jammu were present during the inspection.
Underscoring on the need to prepare annual calendar of activities, the Minister directed the JKAACL to organise different activities for promoting art and culture in the region and the annual calendar should mention all the activities that the academy would undertake during the year.
She called for organising performing art activities every fortnightly as regular activities would attract attention of art lovers and common people towards the rich collections of paintings, sculptures and other art works of the renowned artists of the State.
