JAMMU, Mar 1: Terming tax an important component for nation building and for the development of country, Priya Sethi, former Minister and in charge BJP H Q, J&K lambasted the Congress leadership for misleading the people by linking tax with terrorism while speaking at a function here, today.
In a statement issued the senior BJP leader and former Minister said that this is unacceptable as tax is important component to build nation and for the development of country. She added that tax plays crucial role and helps Government to perform civil operations and make implementation of several schemes successfully.
“The payment of taxes, whether Income Tax by the individual or GST by the traders, is not just a legal matter but a patriotic duty,” she said, adding that if anybody has objection regarding the imposition of tax he /she should convey the objection to the authorities concerned.
“The Government of India (GoI) has launched several schemes to help all the different sectors of the society like employment programs, subsidy on home loans, concession on cooking gas, pension schemes, etc. These schemes require crores of rupees to run successfully. By paying Income Tax, people play vital role in the success of these schemes and also provide the Government with the ability to work on more welfare schemes and programs,” she added.
The senior BJP leader asserted that a significant chunk of the collected taxes is spent on improving healthcare in the country. “There are Government hospitals that offer medical services without any cost or at minimum cost,.
Over the years, the quality of service provided by Government hospitals has improved and it has only happened because of taxpayers paying tax,” she added.
Sethi said that there are Government schools with a negligible fee and thousands of crores are also spent every year on defence and infrastructure developments. She asked the people of the country to have faith on the working of pro-people policies of BJP led Government at the Centre as the PM Modi is working for overall development of the nation. She urged every citizen to be a part of nation-building by coming forward as an honest, fearless taxpayer.
