JAMMU, Aug 22: BJP national executive member and former minister, Priya Sethi today met Divisional Commissioner Jammu and raised the issue of Home Guards and also submitted a memorandum in support of Home Guards.
She said that Home Guards have been struggling since long for revision in their honorarium and mentioned that presently the Home Guards of Delhi are getting a salary of Rs. 25,000 per month while in Pondicherry they are getting Rs. 28,530, in Lakshadweep Rs. 2,7000 and in Chandigarh Rs. 41,524 but in J&K they are paid just Rs. 2,700.
Priya said that in 2015 the Supreme Court had directed all the States and Union Territories to revise the honorarium of Home Guards but barring J&K all the States have honoured the directions of apex court.
“It is necessary that the working class be given sufficient salary as envisaged in Minimum Wages Act,” she maintained appealing J&K LG to take a sympathetic view of issues being faced by Home Guards and revise their honorarium at the earliest.
Those who accompanied Priya included Kamla Sharma, president All J&K HGWA; Sandeep Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Shobha Singh and others.
