JAMMU, July 17: To generate awareness about ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyan’, Minister of State for Education, Information, and Culture Priya Sethi and senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi today jointly released a poster on ‘Save the Girl Child’.
The event was organised under the aegis of Sampark Economic Development Society. The society has been engaged in spreading awareness among the masses on the topic of ‘Save the Girl Child’.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said special focus has been laid on girl child education and a campaign has been lodged to check the menace of female foeticide. She said strict measures have been taken by the Government to ensure complete ban on female foeticide in the State.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a nationwide campaign – Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao to save and empower the girl child,” she added.
Appreciating efforts of the Sampark society, Yudhvir said time has come that society shuns its old dogmas and an all out war is launched against female foeticide.
“Let’s join hands to strengthen the movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ensure that girl child gets her due in society,” he appealed.
Office bearers of the society who attended the event include, President Nisha Verma, Senior member Neelam Gupta, members Sushant Begra, Shivali Sharma and Swarna Bhatti.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion include, Joginder Mahajan, Rajeev Suri, Sharda Sharma, Kundan Mahajan, Sharda Devi and Sandeep Verma.
