MUMBAI, May 11: Priyadarshni Academy, a prominent Non-Governmental Organisation, and leaders of Sindhi community would felicitate veteran BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani at a function here on Saturday.
The event will also feature release of a book “Talat Mahmood: The Velvet Voice” at the hands of Advani. It is authored by Manek Premchand and published by Manipal University Press, says a release here.
A documentary film on Talat Mahmood, produced by Pratibha Advani, TV anchor and show host, would be screened at the function which would be held in K C College.
Prominent singers of Bollywood and other personalities from music industry would participate in the programme which will be hosted under the NGO’s National Integration Through Dance and Music Project.
The function will also include a discussion on Talat Mahmood’s contributions to Hindi film music, the release stated.
On the occasion, prominent persons from various walks of life would be felicitated.
They include Pratibha Advani from broadcast industry, Pralhad P Chhabria, former chairman, Finolex Group of Companies for his contribution to industry and community development, Nihchal Israni, chairman, Blue Cross Laboratories, for his role in growth of pharmaceutical industry and Suman Tulsiani, co-founder, Suman Ramesh Tulsiani Charitable Trust, in education and health sectors.
Well-known Sindhi singers, Ghansham Advani and Kaajal Chandiramani will also be honoured, the release added.
Priyadarshni Academy gives educational scholarships, promotes Indian classical dance and music among youngsters, presents literary awards in Hindi, Marathi, Sindhi, and Gujarati languages, reaches ancient Indian wisdom to an international audience through its publications program, and has a prestigious biennial global awards programme.
