‘Pro Pak slogans’: BJP members create uproar and demand action against Lone

JAMMU: The Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta on Monday said that he will not allow the August House to be ‘misused’ by some members after BJP legislators created uproar over ‘Pro Pakistan’ slogans raised by the National Conference MLA Akbar Lone.
Mr Gupta said that as a custodian he will not allow the August House to be misused by some members as platform for pursing anti-India activities.
Without naming Mr Lone, who had raised pro-Pakistan slogan on the floor of the Assembly on Saturday, the Speaker said that some members who had previously committed mistakes should not repeat such mistakes in future and maintain sanctity of the House.
Earlier the BJP members created uproar and demanding action against NC member, sought registration of sedition charges on him for shouting pro-Pakistan slogans.
“Some members have made mockery of this August House by raising such demands which are anti-constitution”, BJP member R S Pathania said, adding, “earlier some members have raised demand of “Azadi” and now one of the senior members, who himself served as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly has shouted pro-Pakistan slogan”.
“Mr Lone does not deserve to be member of the Legislative Assembly”, Mr Pathania said. BJP MLA Rajeev Sharma supported his demand while another party MLA Rajeev Jasrotia observed that it is for the first time in the history of J&K, a member shouted pro-Pakistan slogan on the floor of the House while FIR should be registered against Mr Lone.
However, National Conference MLA Mohammad Shafi Uri drew attention of the House asserting that the top leadership has disowned member’s statement.
“Our party’s (NC) stand is clear and committed to the integrity and unity of the country and we never challenged sovereignty of the India’s state,” said Mr Uri. (AGENCIES)
