Srinagar, Dec 18: The Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal has ordered an inquiry into the “delay” in the construction of transit accommodation for the employees recruited under the PM Package while the officials of the department involved in the construction of housing say the work is ahead of schedule and there is no delay.
The dedicated accommodations are coming up at two different sites in the district, which include one at Babadariyadin in Tehsil & District Ganderbal and Wandhama in Tehsil Lar.
To inquire about what has been termed as ‘delay’, the Deputy Commissioner of the district has formed a two-member committee which has been tasked to look into the matter and ascertain the facts.
One of the members of the committee is from the R&B-which is carrying out the construction of the accommodation-while another member is from the JKPCC.
In this regard, the Executive Engineer, R&B Division Ganderbal has been directed to provide the necessary assistance to the committee by providing the requisite records wherever needed.
The Committee-under the chairmanship of ADC Ganderbal-which has not yet started the proceedings, has, however, sought the details from the Executive Engineer, R&B and is set to submit its report to the Deputy Commissioner within one week.
Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Shyambir Singh told Excelsior that it has come to the fore that there has been a delay in the construction of the accommodations, and to ascertain that, he said, an inquiry has been ordered. “Only after the culmination of the inquiry, we will be able to get to know the reasons behind the delay,” he said.
However, officials who are privy to the developments in the district told Excelsior that there is no delay whatsoever concerning the construction of the transit accommodation for the employees recruited under the PM Package.
With regard to the accommodation being constructed at Babadariyadin, the officials told Excelsior that the work there was started in May this year and the work is very much ahead of schedule.
About the transit accommodation for the package employees being constructed at Wandhama, the officials said that around 4 blocks out of 12 will be handed over this month.
The officials further said that the construction of the accommodation at Wandhama will be completed one year before the set timeline, while the other one will be completed within the next 3-4 months.
“There is no delay whatsoever in the construction of the transit accommodations in the district,” the officials said.
