This is to draw your kind attention to circular No DIPK-1872 Dt: 17.05.2013 of Finance Department regarding physical verification of pensioners before Treasury Officer by the end of June 2013. This order has created a tension among pensioners in Jammu as you must be aware of the prevailing climatic condition during May-June. This process of verification should be done during Oct-Nov or when pensioners can wait for their turn easily as you know that its a time consuming process (getting their PPO’s from Bank and then to Treasury Office and back). Moreover when mercury is touching 47’C the circular has once again have given them a great shock. I hope the concerned official must think of the woes of pensioners and choose a suitable month during the year when this job can be done.

Sir,
The ghost of physical verification of pensioners has again haunted the administration. Those pensioners who personally draw their pension monthly from the banks need no verification as it is unnecessary torture inflicted upon them in their old age.
Those pensioners who are unable to draw their pension due to various ailments a team of Bank Staff should visit their homes to verify whether they are still living or not, if they do not trust the gazzetted officers “Life Certificate.”
This years verification is a torture inflicted upon the pensioners, who want to spend the last years of life in a peaceful atmosphere, being beset with a myraid of miseries during the sun set years of their life. Hence this futile exercise should be stopped for good to allow aged, ailing pensioners, to pass their short span of life peacefully.
