JAMMU, Oct 26: Dogri Sanstha Jammu today released Prof Lalit Magotra’s collection of memoirs and travelogues, written in Dogri language and entitled ‘ZIDDI CHETE’
Ashok Angurana, retired senior IAS officer and eminent Dogri writer, was the chief guest on the occasion while three detailed papers on the book were presented by Prof Shashi Pathania, Rajkumar Behrupia and Aushotosh Prashar covering various aspects of contents of the book and also giving detailed critical appreciation of the book. The paper written by Prof Shashi Pathania was read by Promila Manhas in her absence.
While speaking on the occasion, Prof Lalit Magotra shared his instinct to pen down this book and recalled the memoirs. He said that these are so sweet that he wished to preserve these in the form of a collection since these have literary significance also. He further added that he has a passion for the language and feels proud in penning down his feels in his own mother tongue.
Ashok Angurana said that Prof Lalit Magotra is a multi-faceted personality and has given so much to Dogri literature as a creative writer as well as a promoter of mother tongue Dogri. His energy is awesome and as a strong voice for Dogri, he has pleaded for the welfare of language at prestigious platforms, Angurana added.
Susheel Begana, a well-known Dogri poet, conducted the proceedings of book release function whereas Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’, General Secretary, Dogri Sanstha Jammu presented the vote of thanks and described Prof Lalit Magotra as a role model for many for his passion for Dogri language, cultural heritage and for organizational skills. The function was attended in good number by litterateurs of Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi and other languages, literature lovers and family members of Prof Lalit Magotra.
