JAMMU, Mar 26: Professor R Balakrishnan Endowment Lectures commenced today at the Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Jammu.
The event sought to inspire young minds by exploring the beauty and significance of mathematical concepts.
Principal of GCET Jammu, Dr Sameru Sharma, emphasizing the importance of such academic initiatives in fostering intellectual curiosity and strengthening student’s mathematical foundations.
The highlight of the day was the engaging lectures delivered by distinguished speakers Dr Sarika Verma and Dr Manish Kumar from the Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu. Their discourse on “Linear Algebra – The Secret Behind Technology” captivated the audience, shedding light on the critical role linear algebra plays in modern technological advancements.
The session emphasized the application of linear algebra in diverse fields such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, quantum computing, and engineering innovations. Dr Verma and Dr Kumar provided deep insights into how fundamental mathematical principles are shaping the technological landscape, making the lectures both educational and thought-provoking.
The Regional Coordinator of the event was Prof Kuldeep Singh Charak from the Department of Mathematics, JU. The Nodal Officer of the event from GCET Jammu was Dr Heera Saini, Head of the Department of Mathematics, GCET Jammu.
