JAMMU, Sept 9: Vice Provost and Dean School of Computing and Engineering, University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), USA, Prof Kevin Z Truman visited Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) to build upon the MoU signed with MIET and UMKC earlier this year.
Prof Truman was accorded the traditional Indian welcome at MIET and received by Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman, MIER Group and Dr Renu Gupta, Director. Other dignitaries present were Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director, Dr Ankur Gupta, Joint Director, Prof SK Sharma, Principal, MIET, Prof GS Sambyal and AK Koul, Head QA and HR.
Later, Prof Truman held detailed discussions with the MIET management on taking the collaboration forward. Several initiatives including the start of twinning programmes were discussed during the meeting. Both sides reiterated their commitment to the partnership and hoped that these initiatives will prove mutually beneficial.
Prof Truman interacted with the faculty and students apprising them of the opportunities at UMKC and the strong Indian presence at the University.
He said that MoU between MIET and UMKC which is the first such MoU among technical institutions in J&K provides options for MIET students to pursue their MS programmes at UMKC, USA under special scholarships and preferential admission policy, adding that it also covers faculty and student exchange programmes, joint research and development and cultural exchange. The MoU represents a significant achievement for the region and MIET in particular.
MIET students can expect to have a significant international opportunity opened up for them as a result of this MoU, Prof Truman added.
