JAMMU, Mar 20: Prof Umesh Rai of Delhi University has been appointed as new Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University.
An order in this regard was issued today by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also Chancellor of Jammu University.
As per the order, Umesh Rai, Professor in the Department of Zoology, University of Delhi, has been appointed as JU Vice-Chancellor for a period of three years with effect from the date he takes over charge on the terms and conditions to be notified separately.
Prof Umesh Rai did his Ph D in Zoology from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in 1986 and worked as CSIR Research Associate there from 1988 to 1992. He joined University of Delhi in 1992 as Lecturer in the Department of Zoology and presently serving there as Professor since 2006.
As Vice-Chancellor of JU, he will replace Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar, who has completed his tenure of three years since July 24, 2021.
