JAMMU, May 15: Professor V Rajamani, Emeritus Professor JNU, visited the Central University of Jammu and delivered a lecture on `The Relevance of the subject of Earth Sciences’.
He was accompanied by Prof Tassawur Kanth (University of Kashmir), Prof M Bhat (University of Kashmir), Prof A Dimri (Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi) Prof Baskar (Guru Jambeshwar University, Hisar), Dr Pradeep Srivastava (Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun), Dr J K Tripathi (Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi), and Dr Anupam Sharma (Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, Lucknow).
Prof Rajamani suggested that University should have its unique identity and be a centre of excellence in the field of Earth Sciences.
Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu, also gave a brief account of the development work in the University. He also praised the eminent Earth scientist for taking interest so passionately in the development of the Centre of Earth Sciences at Central University of Jammu.
Prof S K Shah, Jit Singh, Registrar CUJ, Dean & Head of various departments, administrative officials and faculty members, were present on the occasion.
Dr Pankaj Mehta, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Sciences coordinated the proceedings of the programme. Prof Lokesh Verma, Academic Coordinator, CUJ extended the vote of thanks.
