JAMMU, July 20: BJP State spokesperson, Prof. Virender Gupta, while reacting to the criticism of the Centre Government for its Kashmir policy by the opposition and some of the Kashmiri leaders asking the Government to start negotiations with separatists and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue said that the Kashmir issue is a long pending issue and in spite of three wars and repeated negotiations by the subsequent Governments at the Centre, they failed to settle the issue.
In a statement issued here today he said though during this period Congress was in power at Centre but they were not able to resolve the issue and instead it was made more and more alarming and complex.
The Congress party is responsible for the creation of Kashmir problem and for continuously deterioration of the situation in the Valley. The Islamization and fundamentalism took roots in the Valley when Congress was in power in J&K.
Prof Gupta added that Congress party has number of well wishers of Pakistan like Manishankar Ayyar, Salman Khurshid and P. Chidambaram, their services need to be utilized by the party to persuade Pakistan to stop training and importing terrorists in Kashmir and cross border firing so that useful dialogues between the two countries be held.
Similarly, he asked the separatists who are working on the dictates from Pakistan and supporting Pakistan cause, that instead of addressing Government of India for talks they should ask Pakistan to calm down its guns, stop pushing terrorists in the Valley, thus creating a peaceful atmosphere so that talks can be held between India and Pakistan.
He said that so long Pakistan sponsored terrorism, import of terrorists by Pakistan and firing across the borders persist no talks can be held and no solution to Kashmir issue can be achieved.
However, he asserted that whole of Jammu and Kashmir that existed in 1947, is part of India and the best way to have solution of the issue is the vacation of PoJK including Gilgit and Baltistan that had been forcefully and illegally occupied by Pakistan.
