JAMMU, Oct 3: Prof Vishali Gupta from Advanced Eye Centre, PGI Chandigarh has been elected as the President of International Uveitis Study Group (IUSG) which was founded in 1986 in USA.
She is the daughter of late PN Gupta and Kanta Gupta and was born in Kali Jani Jammu.
After completing her MBBS from Jammu Medical College, she moved to PGI Chandigarh where she is currently working as Professor and leading the Uveitis and Vitreo Retina.
She is a very well recognized international figure and has published more than 300 peer reviewed research papers and delivered more than 900 lectures internationally.
The IUSG is a unique society of top world experts of Uveitis and has representative members from all countries across the globe. This group aims to bring out the guidelines and consensus in managing the complex Uveitis and has 170 elitist uveitis experts as members. It is indeed a unique achievement that for the first time in the history of IUSG, an Asian has received the honor of being the president of such a prestigious society and she will lead the best minds in the world in the field of ocular inflammation. This is the biggest honor that has been bestowed for our country in the field of ophthalmology.
