Prof Wani to be KU’s Dean Academic Affairs

Srinagar, June 3: Professor Mohammad Ashraf Wani, a noted Prof. of History has been appointed as new Dean Academic Affairs of University of Kashmir today.
Prof Wani has served KU in various capacities before he was appointed Dean Academics Affairs. He has served as Head Department of History, Dean Social Sciences, Chief Warden, Member of Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), President, Medieval Indian Section, Indian History Congress, Coordinator, U G C, SAP Coordinator J&K SET and Chief Warden.
Prof Wani is the author of well received work, “Islam in Kashmir’. Besides he has done pioneering research in situating Kashmir History in the context of neighbouring world.
He has also applied the concept of micro-History and non conventional sources for heritage studies of Kashmir.
He was also the President of Kashmir University Teachers Association (KUTA) and worked actively for promoting the academic excellence of the University. While taking the charge as Dean Academic Affairs he said, “I will work to carry forward the rich legacy bequeathed to me by my illustrious predecessors and try to the best of my capacity to promote academic excellence of the University, besides making it student friendly”.
