JAMMU, Dec 5: Prof Yash Pal Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Life Sciences and Dr Seema Rohmetra, Director of The Law School, University of Jammu, attended the prestigious 3-day National Workshop on Leadership Development for Deans of Faculty and Heads of Department of Universities, organised by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi from December 2-4, 2024.
In the workshop, as many as 38 Deans, Directors and heads of the different departments representing 25 universities across the country participated. Designed with the objective of understanding and overcoming the challenges of administration, and to provide an orientation to the academicians for visionary leadership and strategic planning of institutions, the three day event featured extensive deliberations on the diverse aspects of leadership.
During the event, the interactive sessions on Leadership in the governance, promoting multidisciplinarity, improving teaching-learning, team building and research capacity, financial management and resource mobilisation, conflict management along with overcoming leadership issues and challenges in higher education were also held.
The Workshop was coordinated by Dr Sangeeta Angom, Prof Aarti Srivastava and Prof Neeru Snehi from NIEPA under the overall supervision of Prof Shashikala Wanjari, Vice Chancellor, NIEPA, New Delhi. Both the faculty members expressed gratitude to Prof Umesh Rai, the Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu for deputing them to participate in the workshop.
