JAMMU, June 1: A number of young voters of Nagrota Assembly segment under the banner of JK Progressive Youth Forum, JKPYF have urged all the political parties to give tickets to only local candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections.
While addressing media persons, today, Naveen Kumar Sharma, convener Nagrota Assembly segment  informed that voters of Nagrota Assembly segment have decided that they would support only local candidates and this time the voters have made their mind that they will oppose the outside candidates of the political parties.
“We urge all the political parties including Congress, BSP, PDP, BJP, NC, JKNPP, SP, NCP and others to  give tickets to only local candidates in the upcoming Assembly elections because only the local candidates can understand the problems of the people of the constituency”, convenor said.
JKPYF convener said “Non-Local candidates appear in the constituency only during election time and after winning the elections they seldom visit their constituency and the poor voters of the Assembly constituency have to travel long way to meet their own representative so it is not only injustice to the voters but also hampers the developmental works of the area”.
The convener demanded that the political parties should restrain from promoting nepotism while distributing tickets to candidates, many a times it is being noticed that some political parties sell tickets to the ‘political tourists’ non-local candidates who do not have the political and social understanding of the constituency and ignore the young and hardworking workers of their parties.
Other prominent people who were present and spoke on the occasion included  Rakesh Sharma, Sahil Sharma, Vinod Kumar, Ravi Kumar, Jatinder Singh, Pritam Chand, Junaid Iqbal Choudhary, Mohammad Saleem, Krishan Chand, Abhimanyu and others.
