UDHAMPUR, Jan 30: Northern Command chief Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi today called upon the students to project positive things about Jammu and Kashmir when they visit outside.
“It is important that the people come to know about positive things happening in Jammu and Kashmir especially those who never got time to visit here,” Dwivedi said while interacting with the students of J&K, studying in General BC Joshi Army Public School, Pithoragarh, sponsored through Army’s Operation Sadbhavana here today.
“You have two options of projecting positive and negative things. If you project positive one, you will get respect,” he said addressing the students.
The students were on their way back to the school after winter break and had a lifetime opportunity of meeting the Army Commander which further motivated them to excel in future.
Indian Army is a major contributor towards Nation building and Northern Command is spearheading the efforts in UT of J&K for empowerment of the people especially in the field of education for the youth. The Indian Army under ‘Op Sadbhavana’ has sponsored 47 students from J&K for education in General BC Joshi Army Public School, Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand).
The Army Commander while addressing the students congratulated all those who were performing well in their respective streams and motivated them to be the bedrock of the nation which looks up to them for nation building. He told the students that they are representing their UT, region, district and family and should feel proud of it and always endeavour to excel in all spheres including studies, sports and extracurricular activities. Whatever may be their goal in life, they should start working on it from today and pursue it till they achieve it.
While interacting with the children, Lt Gen Dwivedi explained the mantra of 5 Ps for life. He emphasized on the importance of passion for one’s dreams which is a must, Persistence combined with pragmatism which makes one succeed in any endeavour, Parvarish or the teachings of one’s parents which should never be lost sight of, Peers who are an important part of a student’s life as they can boost learning, Padhai which is an important part of life as it enables an individual to equip himself/herself with knowledge to grow in life.
The Army Commander further emphasized that the world is changing fast with latest innovations and gadgets like smart mobile phones and laptops etc. but the young children must use them smartly and not become slaves of the gadgets. He reminded the students that their final exams will be due once they reach their school in a month’s time from now and all students especially those who are appearing for Board exams should not let exam pressure weigh them down.
