Projecting Modi as next PM will be great blunder of BJP: PCC chief

JAMMU, Dec 1: Former Union Minister and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, Prof Saif-ud-Din has said that projecting Narendra Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate will be a great blunder on the part of BJP and it can never come to power at the Centre as the people of the country believe in secularism.
Addressing a largely attended public rally at Darhal in district Rajouri today, the JKPCC president said that projecting Modi will prove as a great blunder on the part of BJP as the people of this country do not believe in the policies of hatred and divisive being spread by BJP. He claimed that BJP can never come to the power at the Centre as the people of this country only believe in secularism.
Prof Soz said strengthening Congress will be a befitting reply to the communal and sectarian forces and asserted that only Congress can lead the nation on the path of peace, progress and prosperity. He asserted that UPA will come back to power as UPA-III in the next Lok Sabha election.
Referring to the role of Congress, the PCC president said that  Congress Party has always played a major role in the unity and integrity of the State  and the country  and maintained the religious  brotherhood and communal harmony and have policies  and programmes aimed at development  and welfare of people of all walks of life.
Commenting on the strength of the party in Kargil and Leh districts of Ladakh region, Prof Soz said that Jammu region has always be a strong hold of Congress Party  and  there is a change in the mind set of youth of Kashmir valley towards Congress  Party and people welcome the policies and programmes of Congress of all the three regions of the State. He said Congress does not divide the people on region or religious lines and believe on strengthening democracy, transparency  and ensuring development for a bright future of the youth of this country.
The Congress leader referred to the vision of  former Prime Minister  Lt Rajiv Gandhi for empowerment of Panchayats throughout the country through 73rd amendment because Panchayats are the basic institution in democracy and Congress has advocated participation of  people in the system of Governance at the grass root level. He said that people have voted for democracy and we are duty bound to empower the people at the grass root level through Panchayats. He claimed that AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi is taking keen interest in the development projects  and employment opportunity to the youth of the State and were instrumental in clearance  of several projects  and welfare of women folk of the State.
Accompanied by R&B Minister  Abdul Majid Wani,  MoS Health Shabir Ahmed Khan, Ch Bashir Naz, Ravinder Sharma (MLC), Master Tassaduq Hussain,  Thakur Puran Singh, Shiv Kumar Sharma (INTUC), Manmohan Singh and others, Prof Soz was earlier enroute Rajouri-Darhal was received by a large number of  people at different places. He also paid obeisance at Ziarat Sain Ganji at Darhal.  R&B Minister assured the people to address their demand regarding improvement of road condition on the area.
