JAMMU, Jan 6: In order to fast track the development activities in Gandhi Nagar Constituency, Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly and MLA, Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta toured Nai Basti, Gadhigarh, Satwari, Digiana, Channi Rama, Greater Kailash, Sainik Colony and other areas of his Constituency.
He was accompanied by the officers of Urban Environment Engineering Department (UEED), Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Rural Development, PWD (R&B), PHE & PDD. During his tour he inspected the ongoing works under AMRUT in which deep drains worth Rs 40 crore are being constructed with an aim to channelize the flow of water and to prevent the same from overflowing during rainy season.
The Speaker said that the rain water used to cause heavy damage to the life and property of people during the rainy season prior to his election as MLA from the area and the day he took over the charge by becoming the local representative; projects amounting to more than 200 crore have been brought to this constituency for the face lift and making this a Model Constituency.
He informed that maximum road length of Gandhi Nagar have been blacktopped and the work of blacktopping for rest of the roads have also been approved and the same will start in the mid of February as the weather improves and the temperature reaches above 25 degree Celsius.
While interacting with people he said, not only the pace of work but the quality has also seen a drastic change in various spheres of Gandhi Nagar Constituency and that was made possible only due to the efficient and honest working of the BJP-PDP Government which strives for the development to reach the doorsteps of people.
He stated that the work for upgradation of lanes & drains in Panchayats in addition to the area falling under JMC, installation of new transformers under R-APDRP and IPDS is on the progressive mode and it can be seen from the projects running in every nook and corner of the Constituency which clearly explains the commitment and dedication of the local representative in improving the living standards of the people residing in rural as well as urban area of Gandhi Nagar and the agencies responsible for the implementation of these projects have been directed to expedite the works.
