JAMMU, Feb 25: Usha Vohra, First Lady today stressed the importance of cleanliness, during inaugural function of National Integration Camp, at Youth Hostel Nagrota.
This function has been organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Jammu and Kashmir, and youth from 11 States are participating in this camp.
Elaborating on the important nation-wide Mission called “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”, Mrs. Vohra urged the students to ensure that their residential and working areas are always kept neat and clean. She asked the students to help each other in promoting and spreading the message of maintaining cleanliness in villages and cities of the country so that, within a short time span, we could be counted amongst cleanest countries of the world.
She lauded the joy and enthusiasm exhibited by the young participants while showcasing folk dances of their respective States. Highlighting the importance of such camps, she said that such events are helpful in promoting emotional integration among people belonging to different cultures and regions and in enabling the youth to first understand and then enjoy the cultural and linguistic diversity which exist in our country.
Mrs. Vohra, on behalf of the Governor, gave an amount of Rs.50,000 to the NYKS for promoting welfare activities.
Navin Aggarwal, Director General Youth Services and Sports and Prabhakant, Director General NYKS, J&K, highlighted importance of such camps for promoting national integration.
Sukhdev Singh, Zonal Director, NYKS, J&K presented the welcome address while S.S. Kashyap, Deputy Director, NYKS, J&K gave a formal vote of thanks on the occasion.
