There is no doubt about it that Jammu region has a great tourist potential especially pilgrimage tourism. After the inauguration of Katra rail some years back Vaishno Devi pilgrims began to sideline Jammu city. It was of course a great set back for Jammu traders, hoteliers transporters etc.
In order to satisfy, pacify and compensate them the then Central and State Governments decided to take in hand the construction of the artificial lake.
But due to some unknown reasons, the project was thrown in the background despite repeated assurances by the BJP leadership that the lake will be completed soon. But the present ground level situation suggested that the project seems to have been abandoned.
The said project if completed has the potential to attracts lakhs of Vaishno Devi pilgrims through out the year other than the local population.
Any further delay is unjustified and it may force peace loving Jammuites to come on the roads.
