JAMMU, Oct 13: J&K Border Area Development Conference (BADC) has urged upon the Union Ministry of Tourism and J&K Tourism Department to promote tourism in border districts of J&K.
In a handout Dr. Shazad Ahmed Malik, BADC chairman said there is lot of potential in tourism sector in J&K therefore it is apt for the government authorities to concentrate on this sector.
He further said that to provide employment opportunities to the youth of border districts of J&K it is right time for the concerned departments to build tourism infrastructure in these areas as International Border and Line of Control are now silent for the last about 20 months.
“People of border areas of J&K are now bearing the fruits of peace initiative taken by the government of India and such benefits should reach the people by way of better roads to attract tourist in border areas,” Dr. Shazad maintained.
Citing the example of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, he said that these districts have huge potential as even in peak summer season when rest of the Jammu division suffer with heat and humidity, many hilly areas of these districts remain refreshing with mesmerizing weather.
