Promote tourism in State

Jammu and Kashmir has a great potential for the development of tourism. It is full of beauty spots both in Jammu and in Kashmir. Jammu is an ancient city. It is known as the city of temples. The most famous temple is the Raghunath temple situated in the heart of the city. In Jammu there is also Ranbireshwar temple and Bawe Wali Mata temple and Vaishno Devi Temple attracts lakhs of pilgrims and tourists from all corners of India.
Kud and Batote are ideal health resorts. Kishtwar is endowed with scenic beauty. Bhaderwah the small Kashmir can be compared to Switzerland in its beauty of hills and valleys. Kashmir is the paradise of tourists.
There are many beauty spots of Kashmir that attract tourists from far flung places. Pahalgam and Gulmarg are among the finest of them all. A trip to the famous cave of Amarnath is really enjoyable. Thousands of people go on a pilgrimage to it. Martand is a temple of the Sun Gods. Sonamarg is another tourist resort.
Tourist trade is an important factor in the economy of Jammu and Kashmir. The tourists season commences in April – May and continues upto October some Europeans come in winter to enjoy the beauty of snowfall in the valley.
Tourist traffic is increasing every year and adding to the revenues of the State. It has become a good source of income. The beautiful tourist places need to be developed and given wide publicity through electronic and print media.
