Srinagar, Apr 22: Police in Awantipora today attached the properties of three drug peddlers—already lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal—worth over Rs. 71 lakh.
As per the authorities, the properties include three double-storied concrete residential houses valued at approximately Rs. 71,58,010, belonging to three notorious drug peddlers from Chersoo Awantipora.
The peddlers who have faced action include Shabir Ahmad Parray S/O Kamal Parray R/O Chersoo Awantipora, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat S/O Gh Ahmad Bhat R/O Chersoo, and Ishfaq Amin Bhat S/O Mohd Amin Bhat R/O Chersoo.
The action, authorities said, has been taken under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act 1985, noting that the residential houses were “illegally acquired properties during the course of an inquiry.”
The inquiry conducted by SHO Police Station Awantipora, Inspector Zahoor Ahmad, under the supervision of Mumtaz Ali Bhatti (SP) SDPO Awantipora, has concluded that the property was “accrued from illicit trafficking in Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic Substances by these drug peddlers.”
“All these three notorious drug peddlers are currently detained under PIT-NDPS Act and are lodged at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu,” police said.
