Property dealer among two commit suicide

JAMMU, May 2: In two separate cases, two people including a property dealer and a housewife committed suicide today in city and its outskirts.
Police sources said that a property dealer identified as Sameer Samnotra son of Satish Kumar Samnotra, resident of Flat Number 703, Ansal Flats, Sainik Colony (Jammu) hanged himself to death at his room during the intervening night of May 1 and 2. They said after completion of all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his family for conducting last rites.
“Initial investigation revealed that the deceased man was tensed for last 2-3 months as he had lent an unknown amount of money to someone after mortgaging his flat but the latter was not repaying his money,” sources said, while adding that inquest proceeding in this connection has been initiated by Sainik Colony police and further investigation into the case is on.
Meanwhile, sources said a 30-year-old woman jumped from a bridge here and ended her life. The woman identified as Saira Bano, a resident of Narwal and mother of three children, jumped from Gujjar Nagar bridge over Tawi river. They said some local people rushed the critically injured woman to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu where she was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
“After postmortem, the body was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites while concerned police had taken cognizance of the matter,” sources added.
