Property seized under NDPS Act

JAMMU, Jan 25: The property of a drug peddler has been seized by Bishnah Police under NDPS Act.
“An information was received at Police Station Bishnah regarding one drug peddler who was involved in narcotics trade from long time,” a police spokesman said.
He said a team of Police Station Bishnah with the help of CCTV footages of the area finally arrested the accused peddler namely Liyaqat Ali alias Gajja son of Hussain Mir, resident of Sikanderpur Kothey (Bishnah) and heroin was recovered from him.
“Accordingly, a case FIR Number 07/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Bishnah and investigation was started,” the spokesman said, adding during questioning, the accused confessed his involvement in various narcotic trades from a long time.
He said the accused recently purchased a Maruti Swift car number JK21B-4077 at a price of Rs 5.3 lakh but on questioning he failed to justify the legal source from where he earned the amount to buy the car. Therefore, in exercise of powers conferred upon investigating officer under Section 68-E with Section 68-F of NDPS Act, 1985, the vehicle of the accused was seized.
Further investigation of the case was going on, the spokesman added.
