Property worth Rs 1 cr of drug peddler attached

RAJOURI, July 15: The property of a drug peddler worth about Rs 1 crore was attached in Rajouri district today.

A police official said that the residential house of Basid Ali, son of Barkat Ali, resident of Kheora area in Rajouri was attached under Section 68-F of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, in presence of Executive Magistrate Ist Class Rajouri.

The police officer said several FIRs have been registered against Basid under the NDPS Act in different Police Stations in Rajouri district.
Additional Superintendent of Police Musadiq Basu, who led the operation, said the property worth over Rs 92 lakhs was attached as it was proven to be acquired through illegal proceeds of narcotics trade.
It is pertinent to mention here that Rajouri police have attached properties of several drug -peddlers worth crores so far for their involvement in this illegal trade.
