JAMMU, Feb 5: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has urged upon the Union Government to protect local MSME units in J&K from the verge of closure.
A meeting of the Association was held under the presidentship of Lalit Mahajan in presence of Tarun Singla senior vice president, Ajay Langer- vice president, Viraaj Malhotra- general secretary, Rajesh Jain- secretary, Vivek Singhal- treasurer and other members today to discuss the implementation of ‘Ancillarisation Policy’ by the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir for providing due share in the purchase of raw materials and packaging materials from the local MSME sector by the medium and large scale units as well as under implementation in J&K.
During meeting the members lauded the efforts of the Lt Governor GC Murmu to attract new investment in J&K UT in Industrial Sector. They said after the removal of Toll Tax with effect from January 1, 2020 in J&K, uncertainty prevailed in the minds of local MSME units holders in respect of purchase of raw /packaging material by Medium & Large Scale Units established in the State from local SSI Units as it has been brought to our notice that number of Units are in the process for the purchase of raw materials and packaging materials from outside the J&K UT which will be a setback to the local units being run mostly by the sons of the soil.
They pointed out that the Ancillarisation process was started in the country simultaneously with the Govt setting up Enterprises almost in all the core sectors. The large Industries and other Public Sector Undertaking (PSUs) started sub-contracting the standard and low technology items to the Local Small-Scale Industries which developed a sound base of Ancillarisation, helped proliferations and development of MSME Sector and BBIA strongly support the concept of Ancillarisation in Private Sector also which will prove a milestone in ushering in an era of sub-contracting amongst the Industries located in our State which will increase the avenues of the employment also.
They said since the Industrial Policy 2020 is in the final Stage, it is a need of hour for the adoption of Ancillarisation Policy by the Industries Department to protect the interest of the MSME Sector of packaging and other related Industries engaged in the manufacturing of Industrial products.
BBIA requested the Lt Governor and Advisor KK Sharma for the adoption of this policy for the development of MSME Sector in J&K.
