MENDHAR, July 26: The transport operators supported by locals held protest demonstration and blocked road for about an hour in the town after a constable beaten up a bus driver here today.
The incident took place during mid day when the driver, Ghulam Nabi of bus No. JK02E/1627 had some altercation with a constable over the issue of over loading. During the altercation, the driver was dragged out and beaten up. Later, the driver supported by other transport operators and locals started protest against the police on the road. They also raised barricades and shouted slogans against police. They disrupted the movement of traffic for some time. However, with the intervention of senior officials in the administration, the issue was resolved.
