UDHAMPUR, Dec 26: Senior Congress leader Sumeet Magotra along with Congress activists and locals held strong protest demonstration against 100 % hike in toll at Chenani – Nashri Toll Plaza.
A strong demonstration was held at Salathia Chowk, in Udhampur town where a traffic jam like situation was observed for some time. Congress activists were raising slogans against BJP led Union Government and National Highway Authority of India.
The protestors also burnt the effigy of BJP Government and NHAI for 100 increase in tax at Chenani-Nashri Toll Plaza.
While addressing the gathering Magotra expressed that it is unfortunate that BJP led Government, without caring for the general public has increased the toll rates hundred present at Chenani – Nashri Toll Plaza. This is big burden on the pocket of pubkic.
Magotra said that transporters and Light Motor Vehicles owners have strong resentment on Government’s dictatorial attitude. He further said that all the UT’s of country are exempted from Toll Tax except J&K. He asked the workers that be ready for a big agitation in near future in this regard.
Senior party leaders Rattan Lal, Vikas Khajuria, Sham Bansal, Rakesh Kumar, Sohan Lal, NSUI district head Shivam Sharma and others joined the protest.
